Same coverage. Same doctors. Same cost.
ClearShare just upgraded the technology behind your plan — not the plan itself. Your monthly contribution, your doctors, your benefits, your emergency coverage: all unchanged. What's different is how you pay for routine care and prescriptions. It's faster, simpler, and there's less paperwork on your end.
Five things that changed for you
The upgrade swaps out the back-end payment system. Every change below is a member-facing improvement — none of them shrink your benefits.
Real-time payment
Routine care settles at the visit through your SmartPay virtual card. No paperwork to file, no waiting weeks for a claim to process, no surprise bills two months later.
Cash-pay rates
Self-pay pricing for routine care is often 40 to 80 percent below traditional insurance pricing. Your plan's money goes further; you don't see a higher bill.
More provider choice
Any provider that accepts a credit or debit card works for routine care. The old "network" restrictions don't apply to routine visits anymore — same coverage, more doctors.
See benefits before the visit
Open the SmartPay app, pick the visit type, and you see exactly what the plan covers for that visit before you arrive. No more guessing what your share will be.
$0 on most prescriptions
Over 1,300 drugs covered at $0 on Tier 1, another ~120 specialty drugs at $0 on Tier 2 with one phone call, plus a discount card that saves 30 to 80 percent on the rest.
One app for everything
SmartPay holds your virtual payment card, lets you start visits, chats with support, tracks your visit history, and stores your plan ID — all in one place.
The plan itself didn't change.
If you were happy with your coverage before, you're still happy with your coverage. The upgrade is a payment-system upgrade — not a plan redesign. We made the back end better; we left the front end alone.

Unchanged
- Monthly contribution — same amount, same date, same payment method.
- Your doctors — keep the ones you have. No re-credentialing.
- Emergency & hospital coverage — works the same way it did before.
- Major medical benefits — surgeries, inpatient stays, all unchanged.
- Annual maximum — same threshold, same rules.
- Pre-approval requirements — same process for the things that needed it before.
- Membership eligibility — auto-enrolled. Nothing to re-apply for.
A picture of the savings
Cash-pay rates are dramatically lower than traditional billed rates. Here's one common procedure — the exact savings depend on your provider, your zip code, and the specific service, but the pattern is consistent.
MRI — common diagnostic imaging
National average pricing comparison
Same MRI, same machine, same radiologist — different price tag. Specific procedure savings vary by market.
How it works at the visit
- Before the appointment, open the SmartPay app and pick the visit type.
- The app shows you the benefit amount the plan's loading onto your virtual card.
- At the front desk, say "I'll be self-pay paying with a debit card" and hand over the card from the app.
- The provider charges the card. The plan's money pays them directly. The visit ends at the visit.
No paperwork. No waiting.
The biggest change in the upgrade: routine visits settle right at the visit. The SmartPay card is pre-loaded with the plan's money for that specific visit. You hand it over, the provider runs it, you walk out — same as a debit-card purchase anywhere else.
One important thing: the card is the plan's money, not yours. You're not paying out of pocket. Your bank account isn't touched.
More doctors, not fewer.
For routine care, the upgrade actually expands your choices. Any provider that accepts credit or debit cards works — the old "in-network only" restrictions don't apply to routine visits anymore. Hospital, emergency, and specialty care still use the existing network just like before.
Three steps. Five minutes.

Most drugs are $0 to you.
Your plan covers prescriptions three ways. Two of them cost you nothing. The third — a discount card included with your plan — saves 30 to 80 percent at over 60,000 pharmacies.
Three paths, mostly $0
- Tier 1 (~1,300 drugs): Walk into any in-network pharmacy, show your member ID, pay $0.
- Tier 2 (~120 specialty drugs): Call Clearwater Direct first to load a virtual card, then pay $0 at the pharmacy.
- Discount card backup: For non-formulary drugs — 30 to 80 percent off retail at 60,000+ pharmacies.
